I had a terrible habit! I was a smoker! I couldn’t go anywhere without my pack of cigarettes and a lighter. If I ever lost or forgot my cigatettes or lighter, I would also lose my mind. Those little sticks of cancer really had a grip on me. I needed to get away from them before it was too late! That’s when I started studying self hypnosis to stop smoking.

I already knew a lot about conversational hypnosis, but didn’t know much when it came to self hypnosis. I honestly thought that it was all just a bunch of hype, but then as I started reading more into it, I realized that self hypnosis is basicaly NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). There is science that backs NLP, so it can’t be all hype! Science doesn’t believe in hype!

Although it would be impossible to share with you every single detail about how I used self hypnosis to stop smoking, I will share the basics with you. Hopefully, this post will motivate you to want to learn more about this stuff, and ultimately finally escape from the grasp of death known as cigarettes!

The Mindset

You have to have the right mindset. It’s very easy to say “I want to quit smoking”, but so many people say those words, and never take action. If you were to rephrase that same self-talk sentence to “I must quit smoking or I will not live to see my grandchildren grow older”, the chances of your mind WANTING to take action will be much higher.

See, as humans, we naturally want to do whatever it takes to avoid pain and experience pleausure. Unfortunately, we do a very crappy job of evaluating long-term pain or pleasure. Those cigarettes that you love to smoke so much bring you a lot of pleasure when they go to your lips. When your longs inhale the toxic smoke, your brain sends signals of pleasure throughout your body! Your body and brain are way too happy to even consider the long term effects of smoking- even though deep down, you know that smoking can kill you!

I highly recommend checking out a few books on NLP. You will learn so much more about the pain -vs- pleasure battle that goes on inside of us every day.

The Punishment

Once you get the right mindset and realize that you will experience much more pain in the future from smoking, you can start to reinforce this mindset. Here is how I did it:

Every time I had a single thought of smoking a cigarette, I would drop down and do 25 push-ups. Instead of thinking about smoking, I immediately switched my focus to getting in shape and doing push-ups. During the first few days, this was shear punishment. I thought of smoking A LOT; therefore, I did A LOT of push-ups!

After a few days of this punishment, my body started to get pleasure out of doing push-ups. I noticed my arms getting bigger, and I felt much more in shape! During the times that I usually thought of smoking a cigarette, my mind said “wait a minute guy… I like doing push-ups much more than smoking! Let’s do push-up’s instead!”

3 Months Later

It has been three months since I started to trick my mind into wanting to do push-ups instead of wanting a cigarette. It has been about two-and-a-half months since I had my last cigarette! If anyone ever tells you that self hypnosis can’t be used to stop smoking, send them to this blog!

If I told you that you were hypnotized on at least 5 different occasions throughout the day, would you believe me? Most hypnosis skeptics are ready to close out this page, and move on to the next philosophy that they can shoot down, but take a few minutes of your time, and open up your mind. Give your conscious mind a break, and let your subconscious mind analyze what I have to say.

The Edge Of The Seat Effect

Do you remember the last action-thriller movie that you watched? If you enjoyed the movie, you were probably so drawn into it, you were sitting on the edge of your seat. That is what I like to call “The Edge Of The Seat effect”.

This is a very common way that you experience hypnosis on a daily basis. It may not come from an action-thriller film, but if you watch any type of television, you fall into a hypnotic state. Without this hypnotic state, you would not be able to concentrate on whatever it is that you are watching. Your conscious mind must turn off, or it will be thinking about everything except for what is happening on the television.

Sing-A-Long Effect

Have you ever been driving in your car, blasting your favorite song as loud as it can get? I bet at some point, you started to sing along with it. How were you able to pay attention to the road? How did you know exactly where to turn, or when to hit your breaks, but still sing in perfect unity with the music?

I also want you to ask yourself this question. Why do you have so much trouble retaining the information that will be on your next exam, but have no problems remembering the words to a song? You don’t even have to think about the words, because your subconscious throws them out for you. When you really sit back and think about it, it’s mind blowing! Imagine if you could use “The Sing-A-Long Effect”, and put it to work for more important things in life…

The Routine

Your alarm clock sounds, you reach over and either hit the snooze, or jump out of bed. That decision was made subconsciously. You brush your teeth, take a shower, and if you have children, you wake them for school. It becomes a routine – a morning routine. Your subconscious becomes programmed with a guide that it can call on when it needs it the most.

Think about one of your routines. What usually happens when something disturbs the routine? Doesn’t it make you feel rushed? You can feel something inside of yourself telling you that something isn’t right.

Imagine if you were able to program your mind with something like a routine whenever you wanted to! The possibilities are endless with what you can do to help yourself through life. That’s what self hypnosis mind control is all about!

Conversation

Do you ever sit around and watch people have conversation? You probably notice a lot more than just words being exchanged during the conversation. If you watch closely, you will see facial expressions, body language, and hand movements. When you combine those three things with words, you have conversation. Anything else is just an exchange of words. There is definitely a clear difference between exchanging words, and having conversation

During a conversation, you don’t usually think about what you will say next. You probably don’t think about body language, facial expressions, or hand movements either. Your subconscious does the work for you. Does that sound like hypnosis to you? Is your conscious mind occupied so that your subconscious mind can take over? That’s the essence of hypnosis!

If you are new to this blog, or you haven’t seen the post that I wrote about my friend Mark, and how he learned about the hypnotic powers of conversation, I really suggest you take a look at it. It is truly a great story about how he started from nothing, got a job in sales, and used conversational hypnosis to become the number 1 salesman at his dealership- all in a 6 month period.

Skeptics, are you still here?

If so, congratulations for sticking it through! As you have probably realized, you experience a form of hypnosis pretty often, you just never really thought about it as being in a hypnotic state. If you disagree, you are entitled to your opinion, and I want to thank you for at least approaching this with an open mind.

What if I told you that using hypnosis mind control is easy? Would you believe me? Don’t worry, this isn’t the opening line of a pitch for some book that I’m trying to sell you. I’m not selling a single thing! I just want to show you that hypnosis is not as hard to learn as you most likely believe.

Its not your fault though! Your mind has been filled with false images of what hypnosis is portrayed to be. As I wrote in a past article, hypnosis is nothing more than the unconscious mind sneaking in when the conscious mind is totally occupied! If you can occupy the conscious mind, you will learn to have control over the unconscious mind! Its that simple!

I know you’re thinking that I made it sound much easier than it really is. In all honesty, thats basically it though! I don’t know of another way that I can explain it! Sure, there is a lot of practice and learning that goes into achieving this amazing power, but its just a matter of how much you really want it!

One of the best ways to get what you want through hypnosis is by using the art of conversational hypnosis. In the last post that I added to this blog, I talked about my friend Mark, and how conversational hypnosis literally changed his life! You can read more about how hypnosis changed Mark’s life here.

The 3 Steps To MASTERING conversational hypnosis

Conversational hypnosis has three basic principles. If you can master these principles, you will be able to change your life in a similar way as Mark!

Step 1 – Build Rapport

Imagine you are going to your first day at a new job. Do you feel those butterflies in your stomach? You are probably nervous about a lot of things, but the biggest worry on your mind is “What if I don’t like my co-workers? What if they don’t like me?”

You feel this way because it’s in our nature to want to feel welcomed. We want people to like us! We want to fit in! Now, imagine how welcomed you would feel, if one of your new co-workers was immediately very friendly to you, and you already found out that she has a lot of stuff in common with you?

Wouldn’t you instantly feel better, knowing that you have someone that you can talk to? Isn’t it a much better feeling when you have someone that can be on the same level as you mentally?

Building rapport is all about making someone believe that you think just like them! Its kind of like building trust, but just because you trust someone doesn’t mean you will make the same kind of decisions in life!

Step 2 – Create Confusion

This is where the skill comes in with conversational hypnosis mind control. It takes a lot of practice to learn this skill, but you can do it if you put your mind to it!

Have you ever been in an argument with your significant other, and by the end of it, you were agreeing with what they had to say, or they were agreeing with what you had to say? Well, somewhere in that argument, confusion was created. Someone said something that made the other person stop and think! The unconscious mind took over for a brief second, and told your conscious mind to think about what was being said more closely.

Step 3 – Once Confusion Sets In, Offer Suggestions

Lets go back to the last scenario, but go more into more detail about the argument. Imagine the argument is about how much steak to buy for the next family cook out. Its not a major argument, but you think you should buy a few more than they are suggesting.

You argue back and forth about how many people are going to be there, and how many people will actually want to eat steak. Then suddenly, you say “Well, I know I’m going to want to eat two, so I’m sure someone else will too”. You just completed step two! You created confusion!

Now, is the time to get it your way by offering a suggestion. You could say something like “We should buy more just in case, its better to be safe than sorry! If someone doesn’t want a steak, we will just put it in the unclaimed in the freezer”.

Now, since the conscious mind is already confused, and looking for a way to get back on track, you throw that suggestion at the unconscious mind.

The Power Of Conversational Hypnosis Mind Control

I wont even finish the scenario above, because I know you can figure out what the end result will probably be! That was a very simple scenario, and I hope that I gave you a little taste of the power of conversational hypnosis.

Remember, you will have to work for anything worth having! This ability is definitely worth having, so even though I called this post the three easy steps, it will take a lot of work to master each one of those steps.

If you are in sales, you probably already know that it takes a person with special qualities to turn a prospect into a paying customer. Most people say that you either have the qualities, or you don’t!

I don’t know about you, but to me, it sounds like they are saying that you cant learn those special qualities. Your mind is much more powerful than most people think! Your mind has the power to influence people and their decisions! You just have to learn how to use your mind to do it!

My Best Friend, The Car Salesman

If you aren’t in the business of car sales, you probably stereotype car salesman as liars. You think that they will tell you whatever you want to hear just to get the sale. Did you happen to catch that? Whatever you want to hear…

How many cars have you bought in your life? If your answer is at least one, then you have a good reason to believe that stereotype. Why is that? Well, whoever you bought your car(s) from told you exactly what you wanted to hear!

You probably didn’t realize it, but you were a victim of conversational hypnosis mind control! The salesman used words and phrases to paint a picture in your mind. They painted a picture of you enjoying your shiny new car. They probably even told you that you were getting an amazing deal!

One of my best friends has been in the car sales business for quite some time. I remember when he worked at a grocery store! Now, he is bringing home six digit figures!

A Little Background About My Best Friend, The Car Salesman

I’ve known Mark for quite some time now. We played football together in school, and thats what turned us into life long friends. There is something about winning and losing as a team (we seemed to lose more than we won) that can create a bond between two or more people that will last forever.

Marks father is in the car business, and when Mark was old enough to work, his father got him a job working at a car dealership. His responsibilities were to make sure the cars were kept in sell-able shape.
I could tell that Mark didn’t really like the job, and was only doing it because he loved the money he made.

Besides the money, he was gaining priceless knowledge that he probably didn’t know he was getting. While working at the car lot, he got to watch and learn from the sales people. His conscious mind only complained about the work he was stuck doing, but his unconscious mind was paying attention to the tactics the sales people used to close the deals.

It didn’t take much time for Marks unconscious mind to take control of his conscious mind, and convince him to try his luck in sales. He fell under his own self hypnosis mind control, and didn’t even know it!

How My Best Friend, The Car Salesman Became So Successful In Such A Short Amount Of Time

The first couple of months for Mark in his new career were shaky to say the least. His subconscious mind was quick to convince him to become a salesman, but it decided not to share any of the tactics it learned with his conscious mind.

Since the money he made was strictly driven by commissions, and commissions were driven by sales, without selling anything, he made less money now than he did with his last position. He was close to calling it quits and moving on to the next dead end job, until I told him about a man named Igor Ledochowski.

Igor Ledochowski is a master hypnotist. His life long work lead him to create a life changing series of audio recordings called The Power Of Conversational Hypnosis. I had these recordings on CD, and loaned them to Mark. I told him to listen to them on his drive back and forth to work.

After the first day of listening, Mark was hooked on Igor Ledochowski, and his theories of conversational hypnosis mind control. He liked it so much, he finished all 16 of the CD’s within a week! After that, he listened again in his spare time, while following along in the 629 page manual/transcript that came with the recordings.

Marks commission checks continued to rise steadily. It only took four months, and he was the salesman of the month for his dealership. His dealership was a chain, and there were about eight other dealerships owned by the same guy. Within 6 months, he had more sales per month than any of the other salesman throughout the whole chain!

My Best Friend, The Master Salesman

It has been about three years since I first shared Igor Ledochowski’s, The Power Of Conversational Hypnosis with Mark. Since then, he has found the love of his life, Katie, and moved to a better dealership. He now works for one of the top dealerships in all of Ohio!

He went from working at a grocery store for minimum wage, to the life most people can only dream of. It didn’t take very long either! To this day, we are still great friends. We talk on the phone regularly, and try to make it a point to go to a football or basketball game together every now and then.

A couple of months ago, I jokingly asked him if he would return those CD’s to me some time. I just wanted to hear his response. He said: “No way! I put em’ away so I can give em’ to my son when he is older!”

I had no problem at all with that!
